Every test the statistical test guidance knows, all at once. Answer the questions in any order and the tests that no longer fit fade out. The number beside each answer is how many tests would remain if you chose it.

Sign Test for Two-Sample Paired

Close

Non-parametric test used to compare two related measurements, such as before and after scores of the same subjects, by counting how many pair differences are positive and how many are negative. Unlike the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, it ignores the size of the differences. Assumes paired observations, with each pair independent of the others.

Use when: The differences are clearly skewed, or only the direction of each change is known. It uses only the sign of each difference.

Levels: Favored when the variable has more than two values. With only two, such as Yes and No, McNemar's test is the better choice.

Alternative to: Paired Samples t-Test. Both apply; start with it. “Use when” says when this test fits instead, and what it compares.

Faded: It is used to study repeated measures designs, not to study association between variables.
