Every test the statistical test guidance knows, all at once. Answer the questions in any order and the tests that no longer fit fade out. The number beside each answer is how many tests would remain if you chose it.

Unpaired/Independent t-Test

Close

Parametric test of group differences used when the observations collected under one treatment condition are not related to the observations collected under the other treatment condition. The independent variable is measured on a nominal scale and can have only two values. The dependent variable is measured on an interval or ratio scale. Assumes normally distributed data, randomly selected samples, and independent observations.

Check first: The DV is normally distributed in each group (less critical in larger samples). Unequal variances are handled by Welch's version.

If its assumptions are not met, see: Mann-Whitney U Test / two-sample Mann-Whitney U.
